Incorporated as "Acoje Oil and Exploration Company, Inc." on August 7, 1957, AJOnet began its business in oil and mineral exploration and development. In 1996, the company shifted its business interest to that of a holding company investing into real estate and changed its corporate name to "Acoje Holdings, Inc." One of its major acquisitions was a 30.3% stake in the Metropolitan Club, Inc. ("MetroClub"), a non-profit sports membership club located in Makati City, Philippines.
In 1999, realizing the potential of the ICT economy in the Philippines, management decided to focus on this industry. Thus, on September 28, 1999, the Board of Directors of Acoje Holdings, Inc. approved the change in corporate name to that of AJO.net Holdings, Inc. (AJOnet). |
